Central Banks: Interest rate policies are scheduled at the European Central Bank and in Brazil, Indonesia, Turkey, and South Africa. ECB President Draghi will hold a press conference after Thursday’s Governing Council meeting, and the Reserve Bank of Australia minutes from this month’s meeting will be released.
Holidays and Special Events: Japan will be closed for Marine Day on Monday. The U.S. Republican National Convention in Cleveland begins Monday and runs through Thursday.
Scheduled U.S. Statistics: Housing starts, building permits, existing home sales, the FHFA house price index, the National Home Builders Association housing index, the Philly Fed manufacturing index, the Conference Board’s index of leading economic indicators, Treasury-collected international capital flows, and the usual weekly assortment of new jobless insurance claims, chain store sales, mortgage applications, energy inventories and consumer comfort.
Japanese Data: All industry index, department store sales, supermarket sales, machine tool orders, and a preliminary manufacturing purchasing managers survey.
Other Selected Asian Indicators: Chinese property prices and Singapore producer prices. Chinese and Indian indices of leading economic indicators. Consumer prices in Hong Kong and Malaysia.
Euroland: The current account, construction output, debt/GDP and fiscal deficit/GDP ratios, ZEW index of investor sentiment, and the preliminary purchasing managers survey results for manufacturing and services.
Members of the Eurozone: German and French PMI surveys. Dutch and Belgian consumer sentiment. Portuguese and Greek current accounts. Italian retail sales, industrial orders and consumer prices. The German ZEW index, Spanish trade, and France’s index of leading economic indicators.
U.K. and Switzerland: British consumer prices, retail prices, producer prices, public finances, labor statistics, retail sales and the BBA’s estimate of mortgage approvals. Swiss money growth, trade surplus and ZEW index of investor sentiment.
Eastern Europe: Polish producer prices, industrial output, retail sales and wage inflation. Czech producer prices.
Nordic Europe: Iceland’s CPI, PPI and wage cost index. Danish retail sales and consumer sentiment.
Australia and New Zealand: Aussie business sentiment and index of leading economic indicators. New Zealand consumer prices and services purchasing managers index.
Turkey and South Africa: Turkish consumer confidence and South African consumer prices.
Canada and Brazil: Canadian consumer prices, retail sales and wholesale turnover. Brazil’s index of leading economic indicators.
